Elder Service Providers/WCTA June Lunch Meeting

When: Wed. June 27th from 11:30-1.  Where: St. Luke’s Community Education Center, 3333 Squalicum Pkwy Room C. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Jason Kaopua of Atkinson Family Dental. His practice has recently expanded and DSHS and most insurance are accepted- children and adults.  Lunch is sandwiches, fresh fruit & vegetables, water or pop and dessert- cost is $7.00 at the door.  If you won a door prize last meeting, please bring one this time. Our annual barbeque will be held Monday July 9th 2007 at the Squalicum Boathouse/Zuanich Point Park at 3:30 PM.

Elder Service Providers 2008 Caregivers Conference

The 2008 Caregiver Conference will be held at the Christ the King meeting center, March 28, 2008.  The theme will be "Caregivers--the 8th Wonder of the World." Please plan to attend, and consider being a sponsor, vendor, or speaker!  Contact Mary Gould at The Courtyard if you would like to participate and attend regular committee planning meetings.

Alzheimer’s Association Western and Central Washington State Chapter

Two advanced dementia care professional programs will be held on June 18th in the St. Luke’s Community Health Education Center, 2901 Squalicum Parkway, Bellingham. A morning session from 10am to 1pm, and an afternoon session from 3pm to 6pm. Each session will qualify for 3 hours of continuing education for professionals. The program covers a review of dementia basics including updates, how to use the Positive Approach to Communication, and using Cues and Clues to resolve behavioral issues. Cost is $29.00 plus tax. Newsletter Article Offer

Does your care facility or organization publish a regular newsletter?  Are you always looking for material to add to it?  Senior Information and Assistance regularly provides a small article for the bulletins at the Senior Centers.  We would be happy to provide one to you, too.   The topics vary, but are usually focused on community resources for the elderly. If you would like one, please email us at iandawhatcom@dshs.wa.gov or call Jodi @ 738-2500.  We will email you what we are using that month.
