Lunch will be at Alderwood Park Convalescent Center, 2726 Alderwood Avenue. Janet Jansen of WTA will be speaking about a new transportation program available to seniors and persons with disabilities, and there will be a bus to look at. The cost is free! Elder Service Provider’s Annual Meeting and BarbequeThe annual meeting at the Boathouse was a big success! More than 80 people enjoyed networking, a wonderful lunch, and a beautiful sunny day. Our new slate of officers was voted in and our speaker, Kelli Linville, shared information about the state budget. Thanks to all who attended. For more information, call (360) 671-1459. Alzheimer Society of WashingtonThe Alzheimer Society is in need of a couple of gently used computers for their offices and support staff. If you or your organization is in the process of upgrading your systems and find yourself with an extra computer or printer that is still in good working order please contact the Alzheimer Society office at 671-3316. Remember that your donations are tax deductible. Memory Awareness Screenings - a free service but donations are gratefully accepted. These are held the third Tuesday of the month. Make an appointment by calling 360-671-3316, or drop in between 10:30 am - 12:30 pm at St. Luke's Community Health Education Center, 3333 Squalicum Pkwy, Bellingham. The screening is non-invasive, non-threatening and takes only a few minutes. NWRC Seeking Case ManagersNorthwest Regional Council, as an Area Agency on Aging, funds and/or provides community-based programs to help people live in their own homes and communities for as long as possible, postponing or eliminating the need for institutional care. NWRC is currently recruiting for the following positions: RN Case Manager or Case Manager. The RN Case Manager provides case management functions and nursing services activities under the Medicaid Personal Care and COPES programs to assigned clients within San Juan, Skagit and Whatcom Counties. The Case Manager assists persons who are older and/or disabled within Skagit and/or Whatcom County. Assesses client needs and authorizes in-home services, including the development and implementation of service plans, and the authorization of payment to providers. Either position is a temporary, full-time, benefited position. In addition, NWRC is seeking an Extra-Help (Contract) Case Manager. This position provides a variety of social and health services functions on behalf of clients in Skagit and/or Whatcom Counties, with the authorization and supervision of the NWRC supervisor. This is a contracted, part-time, non-benefited position with a variable work schedule and fluctuating hours.
