Elder Service Providers October Luncheon

Please join us at Broadway Hall, 1300 Broadway St. on Wednesday October 28th from 11:30-1:00 for our next luncheon, hosted by A Loving Heart Adult Family Home.

The guest speaker will be Jack Arntzen from the Washington State Residential Care Council.

Dimensions – A Dementia Education Workshop Series – Birchview Memory Care

Our Dimensions workshop is a free series that educates, encourages and empowers the family and friends of people living with memory loss due to dementia. Alzheimer Society of Washington Fall Conference

23rd Annual Fall Conference, Fine Tuning Dementia Care, Friday, October 16, 2009 at Christ the King Center, 4173 Meridian Street, Bellingham. 

Distinguished speakers include: Eric Tangalos, MD, Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota; Richard Taylor, PhD, retired psychologist, diagnosed with Alzheimer's-type dementia; Denise Dudzinski, PhD, MTS, associate professor in the Department of Bioethics and Humanities, University of Washington Medical Center; and Kathy Laurenhue, MA, CEO of Wiser Now, Inc. a multi-media training development company that specializes in topics related to aging well.

Alzheimer Society of Washington

The Alzheimer Society is in need of a couple of gently used computers for their offices and support staff.  If you or your organization is in the process of upgrading your systems and find yourself with an extra computer or printer that is still in good working order please contact the Alzheimer Society office at 671-3316.  Remember that your donations are tax deductible. 

Memory Awareness Screenings - a free service but donations are gratefully accepted. These are held the third Tuesday of the month, through November. Make an appointment by calling 360-671-3316, or drop in between 10:30 am - 12:30 pm at St. Luke's Community Health Education Center, 3333 Squalicum Pkwy, Bellingham. The screening is non-invasive, non-threatening and takes only a few minutes.

Annual Caregiver Conference

The conference committee is working on the conference for 2010. If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact Sharon Swanson at Visiting Nurse Home Care.
