Community-Wide Active Adult And Senior Resource Fair: Saturday, April 22
Lynden and surrounding community Presentations, Exhibits, Entertainment, Door Prizes, and Food – all Dedicated to "Living Life to the Fullest"
Here's To Life!, a FREE community-wide resource fair dedicated to helping active adults and seniors in and around Lynden live life to the fullest, will be held Saturday, April 22, 2006, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the Lynden Community Center.
Endorsed by the Lynden Ministerial Association and proclaimed "Here's To Life! Day by Lynden Mayor Jack Louws (11:00 AM), the free event features speakers; a Healthy Heart Risk Assessment Room hosted by the St. Joseph Cardiovascular Center's LifeQuest Team; a wide range of exhibitors; about $1,000 worth of door prizes; entertainment by Tammy Hanson, a penny whistler (9:30 AM); A Gift of Dance (11:15 AM and 1:45 PM), and Cascadia Cloppers (12:30 PM); and food throughout the day (modest prices).
Keynote messages will focus on body, heart, mind (over matter), and soul and will include "Use It or Lose It!" (10:00 AM) by Dr. Kathy Knutzen, WWU Biomechanics and Kinesiology Professor and Director of WWU's Mature Adult Training Program and Center for Healthy Living; "Don't Scratch Your Arteries" (12:00 noon) by Dr. Spencer Hinds, cardiologist with Madrona Medical Group; "Current Advances in the Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease" (1:00 PM) by North Cascade Cardiology cardiologist Dr. David Jessup; "JEST for Health" (2:30 PM) by Dr. Violet Malone, author, international speaker on adult transitions; and "Lessons Learned from the Cowboys...All Living Things Die," (3:15 PM) by Pastor Gale O'Neil, Lynden Community Church.
Here's To Life sponsors include St. Joseph Hospital, the Christian Health Care Center (in honor of its 50th anniversary), North Cascade Cardiology, and Merit Financial.
The event is being organized by First Reformed Church of Lynden, Lynden Parish Nurses, Moles Family Funeral Home-Lynden, and Senior Life Options.

A Special Thank You
A special thank you to Paula Brady and the Caregiver Conference committee for all the hard work and energy that was put into making a day dedicated to caregivers.
The March 17th, 2006 Caregiver Conference was a day full of wonderful speakers, vendor tables full of information, and great food. The location was perfect this year and as we continue to grow. Once again great job and Thanks for all the time you dedicated to making the event a memorable one.
